Safety & Compliance
Use it well. Keep your access.
InM8AI works inside Corrlinks (TRULINCS) and Federal Bureau of Prisons rules, never around them. Following these guidelines protects your messaging privileges and keeps this resource available to you.
Built to follow the rules
- Works within Corrlinks and BOP rules
- Flagged messages are reviewed by a person
- Clear guidelines so you know what to expect
Compliance comes first.
Know the system
Know how your messages are handled.
Everything you send and receive here travels through Corrlinks, the same way as any other correspondence.
Messages are monitored
BOP staff monitor and retain Corrlinks messages in both directions. Write every message as if staff may read it, because they may.
InM8AI adds its own check
Messages and replies are screened against BOP and Corrlinks content rules. Anything that may violate them is held for a person to review instead of being sent automatically.
Facility rules apply too
Individual facilities can have additional correspondence rules. Follow your facility's rules in addition to the guidelines on this page.
What you can ask
Ask freely. Stay within the rules.
InM8AI is built for practical, everyday knowledge. Keep your questions honest and direct. InM8AI provides general information, not legal advice.
Great to ask about
- Legal terms, processes, and general legal information in plain language
- Education, study habits, news, and world facts
- Rehabilitation, job readiness, and release planning
Off-limits
- Threats or violence toward anyone, weapons, escape, or contraband
- Making, buying, or selling drugs; extortion; gang activity
- Sexually explicit content, coded language, or any way around monitoring
Off-limits topics
What InM8AI will not help with.
Threats or violence
Toward staff, other inmates, or anyone else.
Weapons, escape, contraband
Nothing that helps introduce or hide prohibited items.
Drugs
Making, buying, or selling them.
Extortion
No blackmail or pressure for payment.
Sexually explicit content
Prohibited by BOP and Corrlinks rules.
Gang activity
No ordering or planning of criminal activity.
Coded language
InM8AI will not help create codes or avoid monitoring.
Business or money transfers
No running a business or directing financial transactions from custody.
If you are in crisis
InM8AI is not a crisis service. If you are thinking about hurting yourself, tell facility staff or psychology services right away. Messages about self-harm are flagged for human review.
If a message is flagged
What happens next.
Your message is held
The automatic reply is not sent. You may receive a short note that your message is under review.
A person reviews it
An InM8AI team member decides whether to approve, edit, or decline a response.
Next steps depend on the content
Depending on what a message says, InM8AI may decline to respond, limit or suspend an account, and may share the message with the Bureau of Prisons or other authorities. BOP can also reject messages, restrict messaging privileges, or refer matters to law enforcement on its own.
Why it matters
Following the rules protects your access.
Serious or repeated violations can lead to suspension of your InM8AI account. They can also cost you Corrlinks privileges, which affects everyone on your contact list, not just InM8AI. A clear, honest question gets a clear, useful answer.
- Ask clear, specific questions in plain language
- Keep messages honest and within the rules
- Follow your facility's own rules
